Airbnb Cleaning Services Checklist

If you’re starting an airbnb cleaning service, you may want to consider offering Airbnb cleaning services. But, what does this entail? This article will give you an overview of the essential tasks included and provide a template checklist for your use.

Kitchen Cleaning

The first thing you’ll want to do is clean the kitchen. Airbnb customers will definitely be using the kitchen, so you’ll want to make sure it’s sparkling clean.

Start by taking everything out of the refrigerator and wipe the shelves, containers and interior spaces, including the interior door, with a mild detergent solution. Dry all surfaces with paper toweling or a reusable clean cloth. Replace the containers and re-attach shelving. Discard any items that are opened or do not appear to be staples (mustard, ketchup, etc). If any food item is in question, discard it as a safety precaution.

Move on to cleaning the stovetop and oven with a cleaner that is approved for that usage. Don’t forget to clean the microwave from top to bottom on the inside, as well as the exterior panel.  Clean the ceiling of the microwave, if needed. After that, you can move on to scrubbing the sink and countertops. Use a kitchen cleaner or stainless steel cleaner, as needed. Wipe all counter surfaces with an antibacterial spray and dry with a paper towel before moving on.

Remove any clean dishes from the dishwasher and, if dirty dishes are present, place in the dishwasher and run the dishwasher. Empty it when dishes are clean. Put away all clean dishes and utensils.

Mop the floor and allow it to dry.

Bathroom Cleaning

The bathroom is another important room that you’ll need to thoroughly clean. Remove all bathroom linens and restock supplies. Start by cleaning the toilet, making sure to disinfect it thoroughly. Clean the toilet fixtures and surrounding areas on the floor. Then, move on to scrubbing the sink and countertops. Use an antibacterial spray on counters. Clean the bathtub, wipe down the walls of the tub or shower enclosure, remove any used soap or shampoo bottles, and restock soap or shampoo as needed. Clean the mirrors and restock the toilet paper supplies. If your contract includes cleaning linens, run dirty linens through the washer and dryer, fold and resupply the linen closet. Finally, mop the floor and allow it to dry.

Bedroom Cleaning

For the bedrooms, you’ll want to start by removing all used linens and, depending on your contract, cleaning those linens in the washer and dryer. Using fresh linens, make the beds. Then, you can move on to dusting all surfaces, including the furniture, windowsills, and baseboards. Remove any trash and used items in the room and check under the bed for any forgotten items. Don’t forget to vacuum the carpet or flooring as needed.

Living Room & Family Room Cleaning

In the living and family rooms, you’ll want to start by dusting all surfaces, including the furniture, windowsills, and baseboards. Use a wax spray on wood tables, if requested by your client. Check under and around all furnishings for trash or forgotten items. Check the furnishings for stains and treat as needed. Vacuum the carpet and clean the flooring as needed. If you determine any damage has been done to furnishings or flooring, i.e. burn marks, broken items, etc., take several photos of each area and send them to your manager or company owner, as directed.

Exterior Cleaning

For the exterior of the property, you’ll want to start by sweeping the porch and/or or balcony area. Remove any trash or forgotten items. Move on to cleaning windows and remove fingerprints or marks on the doors. Shake out any door mats and replace.

Miscellaneous Cleaning Services

There are a few other miscellaneous tasks that you may be required to do as part of your Airbnb cleaning services. These can include taking out the trash, emptying the dishwasher, and folding laundry.
